THX tune-up (TM) is a valuable tool for optimizing your entertainment system by adjusting your TV, projector, and speakers. This app provides custom video test patterns, carefully selected photos, and interactive tutorials to help you achieve the best picture settings based on the lighting conditions in your room. It also includes audio tests to ensure that your external speakers are properly connected and working in phase.

Additional Requirements

• Supported iOS devices: iPhone 4, 4S, 5; iPad 2, 3, 4 & Mini; iPod Touch 4 & 5; iOS 7.1 or later
• If using Apple TV, it must be the 3rd generation or later
• For iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4 users who are using Apple TV, picture adjustment requires an AV adapter and HDMI cable connection to the TV or AVR (limited to 720p)
• For 5.1 audio tests, the iOS device must be directly connected to the AVR with an adapter and HDMI cable (not supported on Apple TV)
• The app is optimized for iOS 7.1 or later and requires an HDMI adapter and cable connected directly to the TV or AVR for iPhone 4S & 5, iPad 2, 3, 4 & Mini, and iPod Touch 5

Connection to TV/AVR

• Use a Cat 2-certified HDMI cable that is at least 2 meters (6 ft) long
• For iPad 2 & 3, iPhone 4 & 4S, and iPod Touch 4, use the 30-pin Apple Digital AV Adapter
• For iPhone 5, iPad 4 & Mini, and iPod Touch 5, use the Lightning Digital AV Adapter
• Apple TV (3rd gen) is compatible with iPhone 4S & 5, iPad 2, 3, 4 & Mini, and iPod Touch 5 for picture adjustments
• Connect your iOS device via Airplay to your Apple TV (3rd gen) and enable Mirroring

To begin your THX tune-up, connect a supported iOS device to your TV or sound system using an HDMI adapter and cable or through AirPlay with Apple TV (3rd gen). Simply follow the app's tutorials which will guide you through the adjustment process. The app offers advice on using your remote control effectively, optimizing room lighting, determining the ideal viewing distance, and other helpful tips.

THX tune-up provides adjustments for various video settings including aspect ratio, brightness, contrast, color, and tint. You can use your iOS device's camera and the built-in color filter to set color and tint accurately. Point the device's camera at the TV screen and adjust the settings until the color and tint appear correct.

In addition to video adjustments, THX tune-up allows you to test and adjust your speaker setup. You can confirm that speakers are connected to the correct AVR output and ensure that positive and negative speaker wires are properly connected. The app helps you verify if all speakers are in phase.

As an added bonus, THX tune-up includes fun extras like the ability to activate the "moo can" feature by tilting your device to hear it "moo." You can also play THX trailers to showcase your newly tuned TV and sound system to friends and family. Furthermore, you have the option to enjoy the iconic "THX Deep Note" in 5.1 surround sound, replicating the theater experience.

Please note that while THX tune-up is a valuable tool for optimizing your entertainment system, it is not a professional calibration tool and should not be considered a replacement for professional in-home calibration.
